Why You Need a Calculator?
The question I get most frequently from athletes is about how much fluid and nutrition should be consumed during workouts and races. Serious athletes recognize that proper nutrition during and after exercise can significantly improve performance and recovery. While most athletes accept this proposition, they lack a clear definition of “proper nutrition” and mistakes are all too common. Failure to refuel properly during a race can lead to bonking and over-consumption can lead to GI distress.
That’s why I developed the Calculator. The Calculator is based on the latest science regarding exercise intensity and the absorption capacity of the GI tract. Now athletes can obtain a customized hydration/nutrition plan based on their workout or race time. Best of all, this valuable tool could not be easier to use.
About Dr. Portman
Dr. Robert Portman is a well-known sports scientist in the United States whose research has focused on the impact of nutrition on athletic performance and muscle recovery. Nutrient Timing dramatically changed the role nutrition plays in performance and its principles have been universally incorporated in the training regimen of athletes at all levels.
The second book, The Performance Zone, creates a nutrition action plan so that every athlete can utilize nutrition to enhance endurance and raise athletic performance.
The latest book, Hardwired for Fitness, uses the latest science to demolish myths that serve as a barrier to getting fit. Hardwired for Fitness shows how, by resynchronizing your body’s natural biologic rhythms, you unleash a powerful arsenal of metabolic weapons to help you get and stay in shape.
